Peach and Light Blue Themed Styled Shoot
I was sitting here preparing my thank you for this fun and gorgeous summer styled shoot yesterday. Noting down everyone I needed to thank, I felt like I was preparing my thank you speech for the Country Music Awards. If I start with “Oh My Gosh, there are so many amazing vendors who contributed” and wear a sparkly gown, I’ve definitely veered into CMA territory.
But seriously, we had an amazing time and had a truly wonderful team of vendors for our shoot. If your wondering how we go about putting together a styled shoot, it’s like this. We start with a new and fabulous venue, conveniently located a few miles off of I-35W, just North of Denton.
Gorgeous New Wedding Venue in Denton
Chapel Creek Ranch has at least 3 different options for your wedding. I say 3, because there are some outdoor locations that I think would be AHMAZING for an intimate fall wedding. If you’re looking for a photographer for one of those intimate outdoor weddings on the lawn, by the rustic truck or on the bridge, pick me, pick me! I LOVE unique intimate weddings!
The Florals and Styling
Next, we add in some simply stunning floral’s and design elements, by the the talented Sarah at Blue Sapphire Weddings. Those of you that have known me for a little while know that Sarah is one of my preferred vendors to work with. She has an amazing eye for detail, brings a whole array of gorgeous design talent and is simply fun to work with.
Sarah is my main collaborator for this shoot. We bounce ideas off of each other and reward each other with a YES! Let’s do that! When there is a middle of the night epiphany. Every girl boss needs a work buddy like that, especially when you own your own business. I’m very thankful for mine!
Styled Shoot Fun – Choosing Our Vintage Rentals
After that we start adding in some gorgeous details from some of the most elegant vintage rentals in the area. I try to find rental companies that complement each other so each company can be fully represented. I chose Rent Our Vintage, based in Haslet for my larger more rustic outdoors items. Erica is wonderful, responsive and accommodating. She has collected a wide variety of items, from mix and match chairs, doors, lawn games, etc.
Afterwards, I made my way down to the beautiful shop in Mansfield that houses Gold Dust Vintage. Here I found the gorgeous details that really pull a theme together. I wish I had a bigger truck, because I would love to use EVERY single one of their lounges, chairs. They are stuffed full of lovely chairs, lounges, tables, glasses, decanters, signs, etc. The best part is, they are organized by room so you don’t get overwhelmed looking through all of the eye candy.
Beautifully Elegant Stationery
Tying it all together, I found the creative and talented Emily at Andrea Creative Co. to create the beautiful stationery set that you see in the photos. She is quick, does simply stunning work and has one of the friendliest personalities of anyone I’ve worked with. My only regret is that we have to be virtual friends rather than local buddies.
One of my very favorite elements of the shoot was the vintage stamps that Emily included with the elegant invitation. Proving that it really is in the details, the stamps are delightfully vintage without smothering you in it. Any time you have a theme, you have to find the balance between fun and over the top. Emily has certainly found it here.
Adding in Some More Details
When planning to style a shoot, I always have a goal of creating some inspiration for brides and grooms that are planning their own wedding. When you look at these photos, you should say, oh wow, I want that. Megan at Rebekah Creations created these beautiful vintage mason jars full of sparkle and I LOVE them. We used them to accent our wedding favors table of peach jam. Looking to add some sparkle, visit her page.
Cinnaholic’s of the World Unite
Sarah and I were looking for a delicious and elegant alternative to the traditional wedding cake. Don’t get me wrong, I love cake! It’s a pre-requisite to being in the wedding industry. However, I love it when brides think outside the box on any of their wedding details. Cake is no exception. We found the ULTIMATE cake alternative here, with the dough magician’s at Cinnaholic. I’m personally thankful that I don’t live closer to their store, or I would need a 12 step program. For those of you thinking there isn’t anything elegant about cinnamon rolls, they are here to prove you wrong with their gorgeously styled cake.
Incorporating a Fun Reception Element
Which is where the DFW PhotoBus comes in. In case you haven’t heard, you can get a photo booth…in a bus!!! Ummm…yes please! As an added bonus the bus was vintage blue, which fit with our color scheme. There is just something so fun about a vintage VW bus. Kyle, the owner, is one of the nicest most accommodating guys I’ve worked with and he has a great overall eye for styling.
The absolute best part of a styled shoot for me, is getting to work with the bride and groom. I am a big believer in true love and real people. I choose to use real engaged couples because I think you can see the fun spark between them. No matter how great a model is, there is no such thing as real chemistry. I believe that couples want to see real inspiration.
As a bonus, the couples are generally engaged couples I’m working with for their own wedding. Getting a chance to have a wedding day photo run through allows them time to learn the wedding day process. We get to know each other in fun low-key environment.
On the actual wedding day, they already know my directing cues, have worked out their on camera jitters and are ready to have stunning photos taken in an even shorter amount of time. I’m so excited for Lysandra and Chris’ wedding in October!!!
If you’re engaged and would like to inquire about adding in a pre-wedding experience please contact me here.
Beautiful and Quick Hair and Makeup
Finally, we wouldn’t have created such a beautiful experience without an amazing hair and makeup artist. Brea made the drive out early on Friday morning armed with waterproof and sweat proof makeup. I’m not sure how she did it, but our bride looked just as amazing as we were pulling out of the venue as she did after Brea said “She’s Ready”. In the DFW area looking for a hair and makeup artist, visit Kiss And Makeup.
Wrap it all up in a gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown from the fun and wonderful Pence and Panache Bridal Shop in Burleson. If you are still waiting to say Yes to the Dress, visit this boutique. Regardless of your size or the style you’re looking for, the friendly designers will help you find the dress of your dreams here.
Yes, there is a lot of work that goes into a styled shoot, but the networking, wedding inspiration, fun and ultimately, lovely photos for everyone to share, make it worth it. If you are a venue or a wedding professional that would like to collaborate on a styled shoot, please touch base here.
