How to deal with Wedding Planning Stress
The fun of buying your wedding planning binder is slowly wearing off and you’re becoming more overwhelmed by the mound of decisions to make.
All of that wouldn’t be so bad if you weren’t also trying to manage a career, working out to ensure you look AMAZING in your dress, spend time with your fiance, see your friends and maybe, just maybe, hang out with your dog once in a while.
So why not take a break? No one will call the bridal planning police, I promise. Treat yourself good! This may be one of the best lessons you will learn during the planning process that you can apply throughout the rest of your life.
Because really, bridal planning is just a dry run for getting ready for a baby, or a big move, a spouse getting assigned overseas, a new career, etc.
Reduce wedding planning stress by giving yourself a break.
It all comes down to you saying, I deserve a moment, and that’s ok. But, where do you start? Well, I start by making something when I’m trying to unwind.
Those that know me, know I love to DIY. There’s just a sense of accomplishment and comfort that comes from enjoying something I created. Knowing exactly what went into it makes me feel like I’m prioritizing myself enough to spend time in the creation as well as the enjoyment.
Which is why I’m thrilled to be sharing this recipe from Kristy over at Life-n-Reflection.
De-stress at home, spa style.
What better way to pamper yourself, then to create an at home spa experience? To me there is a fundamentally soothing quality in the process of creating something from scratch.
Kristy has some simply incredible recipes (you know coffee-holic that I am, I will be trying the coffee shower scrub next).
I chose the Lemon Lavender Sugar Scrub for my first foray into home spa treatments, both for it’s ease of creation (you likely have most if not all of the ingredients already on hand) as much as for it’s soothing characteristics.
If you don’t have any lavender at home, I strongly encourage you to get some, have some, keep some close.
Growing up in Sequim, the lavender capital of the world, I can attest to the beautiful aromas and soothing qualities of lavender. Just one whiff and it reminds me of home and helps ease any stresses of the day.
Which is why I’m going to be attempting to keep a stock of this scrub on hand to include in my welcome baskets for new brides. I say attempt, because I tried this and it was seriously incredible, so I’m not sure how much will be left over to gift.
Supply List for Lemon Lavender Sugar Scrub:
- 4 oz mason jars (or other air tight containers)
- 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup olive or coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 8 drops lavender essential oil

Wedding planning is hard sometimes.
Heck, being an adult is hard sometimes. Mix up some of this scrub that Kristy created to keep your skin moist and smooth. Run a bath, pour a glass of your favorite vintage and relax. If you’re going all out, candles and some John Legend will complete the effect.
Side note -Kristy points out that scrubs are especially beneficial for the hands and feet, so you brides that are planning on kicking off your shoes for your reception dance party, get your scrubbing on!
